Infiniti’s G37 lineup harmoniously blends performance and luxury with a host of standard and optional features. The 2009 Infiniti G37 is available as a high-performance coupe, sedan and convertible. Car and Driver magazine has named the Infiniti G37 to its 10Best list for 2009. Out of 56 vehicles, the G coupe and G sedan rose to the top, marking the fourth time Infiniti has won this award, in addition to 2003, 2004 and 2007.

Power and performance
�
The coupe and sedans are offered in four trim levels: Base, Journey, G37x and Sport 6MT. The convertible comes in base and Sport 6MT trims.

All G37 models are powered by a robust 3.7-liter V6 engine rated at 328 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The Base, Journey and G37x come standard with a seven-speed automatic transmission featuring manual paddle-shift control and rev-matched downshifts. The Sport 6MT is available with an exclusive six-speed manual transmission. All G37s are rear-wheel drive except for the new G37x, which is all-wheel drive.

The G37 models fitted with an automatic transmission, deliver 18 mpg in city and 26 on highways; Sport 6MTs have 1 mpg less across the board. The all-wheel-drive G37x make up 18 mpg in city and 25 mpg on highways.

Body and styling

The Base G37’s standard equipment includes automatic climate control, leather upholstery, full power accessories, 17-inch alloy wheels (18s on the coupe), xenon headlights, keyless ignition and entry, power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a six-speaker audio system with a CD/MP3 player, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack.

The Journey upgrades with dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights, a six-CD changer and passenger-seat power adjustments. The upscale G37x all-wheel-drive model gets heated front seats and outside mirrors.

The Sport 6MT trim level is available with additional performance features and the six-speed manual transmission. Eighteen-inch wheels with high-performance tires (19-inch wheels on the coupe), sportier exterior and interior treatments, a limited-slip rear differential, upgraded brakes, a sport-tuned suspension and seats with added thigh and torso support are standard.

The coupe’s trunk space is modest - just 7.4 cubic feet, but the rear seatbacks can be folded down for more space. The sedan’s trunk is spacious with14 cubic feet. A number of packages and individual accessories that upgrade the trims with additional features are available.

Safety features

The standard Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor which adjust their inflation rate depending on crash severity, seat occupancy and seat belt usage. If the front-passenger’s seat is empty, a sensor will deactivate the air bag.

Stability control, traction control, 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Tire Monitoring Pressure System (TPMS) and active head restraints for the front seats are among the other standard features.

Adaptive headlights and pre-crash seatbelts that use the cruise control sensors to detect an impending impact and then automatically pre-tension have been included in the optional technology package.
